Reading our PPP parent letters

On the last day of term, we read the letters our parents had sent about our PPPs.  It was  exciting to receive our own mail at school, and super relaxing to read it in our PJs!

Teddies find reading tricky, so we had to read it to them ourselves.

Last day of term 2

In the same way as term1, everyone in Room 18 collaborated to make a PMI  (positive, minus, interesting) chart about Term 2.

There was plenty of room on the last day, even for two (quite well behaved) giraffe because
we had moved our desks to the edges of the room.

It was a strange day because we wore PJs all day; doing our spelling tests, fitness, reading our PPP parent letters, even singing in the choir at the celebration assembly!

Bookmarks

We all made a book mark to motivate us to read books in the holidays.  We wrote our name in coloured bubble writing on one side, and our favourite book character on the other.  Then we added a tassel so we could find our page easily.  It will be interesting to see if the book marks do actually encourage us to read.  We will have a vote when we get back to school in Term 3 to find out.

This was our graph about our bookmarks in the holidays

Riding on a dragon

We watched the video from Pete's Dragon of a boy having a ride on a dragon's back, and then we wrote our own descriptions of what it would be like.  You can watch the video again with your parents by clicking on:

Here is one of our illustrated stories - look in our Writing page for many more.

Lions Rule, OK?

As part of our Animalia theme, we painted lion heads.  First we used proportion to outline the shape of the head, just like we did when we sketched our self portraits.  We also learned how to blend paint using  a palette and to apply it so that the colour varies, just like the different greens in a tree's leaves.

Our Marvllous Mums

In May, everyone wrote a description of their Mum and attached it to their Mothers Day card.  Later we illustrated our descriptions and displayed them on the wall so everyone can see how beautiful and special our mothers really are.  Look in the Writing page to see all our descriptions.

Weka Team Assembly

At our Weka Team Assembly we celebrated Miranda, Ivana, Rhys, Brooke, Matthew C and Ella who have all started to link their handwriting with diagonal ligatures.  They displayed their writing to the rest of the Weka Team.  They have previously all attained the Basic Handwriting Certificates and can slope their handwriting smoothly and consistently.  Congratulations!  There are a few other students (you know who you are!) who are almost at this stage in their handwriting and will be linking very soon.
